A week left to vote in Beard of Year poll

The Beard Liberation Front, the informal network of beard wearers, has said that the 2013 Beard of the Year Award looks to be the mostly hotly contested ever with just a week to go until the polls close on 24th December at midday

The winner will be announced on December 28th.

BLF Organiser Keith Flett said Several contenders have increased their profile in a bid to win votes. Gareth Malone has vowed to keep his ginger beard, Jeremy Paxman has honed his hirsute image on Newsnight, Francis Wheen has been voted Organic Santa of the Year and made a campaign video and Geoff Parling was at Sports Personality of the Year. The vote remains wide open

The winner in 2012 was former The World Tonight anchor Robin Lustig
