OLYMPIC PERIOD BEARD WAGGLING CONTEST UNDERWAY

The Beard Liberation Front, the informal network of beard wearers, has said the Olympic period beard waggling contest is set to get underway on 28th July and run until September 10th.

During that time the BLF will be monitoring beard waggles by Olympic athletes and by spectators in two separate contests.

Photographic evidence of each waggle will be assessed by BLF judges and winners announced on September 10th.

The campaign group which opposes beardism, irrational prejudice against facial hair, says that the contest is free to enter, free form and entirely unsponsored.

There is a framework for beard waggling [below] but a range of styles is permitted. Female competitors may have false beards but male competitors cant without special BLF dispensation which will not be unreasonably with held.

BLF Organiser Keith Flett said, We hope that the Olympic period beard waggling will be fun, very mildly competitive and an antidote to some of the hype and commercialism of the official games.

Beard Waggling rules

The Beard must be waggled from side to side or up and down or a variation on these

Shouting, singing etc during  a waggle is permitted but is not essential

The beard should not be waggled wet or greased and this may lead to disqualification

The waggle must last for a minimum of 60 seconds but no particular advantage is to be gained from a lengthy beard waggle

If a false beard is used it must remain affixed to the wagglers face for the duration of the waggle

Marks are given for both style of waggle and duration
