Further review of Ben Bradley MP’s Parliamentary Beard of the Year title to be held

The Beard Liberation Front, the informal network of beard wearers which campaigns against beardism, irrational prejudice against the hirsute, has said that it is to hold a further review of Ben Bradley’s Parliamentary Beard of the Year Award after he stepped down as a Vice Chair of the Conservative Party on 10th July.

The campaigners say that whether Mr Bradley does or does not hold the position is of no concern to the BLF. Equally the campaigners take no particular view on Brexit, viewing neo-liberalism and austerity as clean-shaven creeds wherever they originate from.

However the BLF says that the Parliamentary Beard of the Year, for which Mr Bradley won the popular vote in December 2017, is about promoting a positive image of the hirsute in the public eye.

Normally the recipients, while they may well hold controversial views, do not attract media attention for actions they have taken during the year.

Mr Bradley last came to the BLF’s attention over remarks about Jeremy Corbyn for which he subsequently apologised in February. The BLF stated then that a further review would be held if Mr Bradley came to attention again

BLF organiser Keith Flett said, no decision has been taken but we want to carefully review if Mr Bradley’s public actions are in keeping with the Parliamentary Beard of the Year title
