The Beard Liberation Front, the informal network of beard wearers, has said that while many mainly clean shaven sports such as football, cricket and even golf now have some fine beard wearers amongst the leading players men’s tennis is still struggling with the shaving brush if the men’s championship at Wimbledon is anything to go by.

The BLF ably assisted by several beard watchers has been able to identify only a handful of decently hirsute players in London SW19 so far and they are all out.

On Saturday Benoit Paire lost to Del Potro after spending much of the match muttering into his beard.

On Monday the more promising Ernests Gulbis lost 3 Sets to 1 to Nishikori after damaging his knee during the match.

BLF Organiser Keith Flett said, Wimbledon is urgently in need of Beard Power if it is to keep up with the sporting times
