Kane is the first ever England World Cup captain to wear a beard: It will help England win

The Beard Liberation Front, the informal network of beard wearers, has said that England World Cup football captain Harry Kane is the first since England joined the competition in 1950 to wear a beard. David Beckham who captained the team in 2002 and 2006 has subsequently become hirsute but did not have a beard in those years.

The campaigners say that beard power can have an important psychological impact on the pitch and may also on occasion, for example heading the ball, help directly.

BLF Organiser Keith Flett said, we are counting on Harry Kane’s beard to win England the World Cup
