Campaigners say Vince Cable will struggle with image as LibDem leader

The Beard Liberation Front, the informal network of beard wearers, has said that the new leader of the Liberal Democrats Vince Cable will struggle with image as a party leader due to his follicly challenged appearance.

The BLF campaigns for people to be able to dress and appear as they want and has long opposed the idea that the only political figure acceptable is a clean shaven white man in a suit.

The campaigners say however that there is no question that a lack of facial hair did not help, in recent decades, political leaders as diverse as Iain Duncan Smith and Neil Kinnock.

BLF Organiser Keith Flett said, no doubt numbers will have political objections to Vince Cable, but his follicly challenged appearance should not be an issue. He could of course grow a beard to address the issue, echoing the popularity of Jeremy Corbyn’s political style, but that is a matter for him.
