The Beard Liberation Front, the informal network of beard wearers, has issued updated guidelines for beard wearers as the temperature rises to 30c in some parts of the UK.

The campaigners say that exposure to sun can damage beard follicles, while perspiration in the heat can cause a condition known as ‘soggy beard’.

BLF Organiser Keith Flett said, we’ve revised our guidelines as the frequency of hot weather is increasing this year. Our message to the hirsute: is take care out there

Guidelines for maintaining the Beard in hot weather

If the beard is aboveĀ four inches in length moderate summer trimming may be in order, following the guidelines set by Marx in 1882
If the beard starts to over-heat immersing it in the freezer cabinet of the nearest supermarket will provide an instant remedy
Hand held fans may also be used to ventilate the beard
If the beard starts to dry out in the heat and follicles become brittle immersion in a glass of craft beer will moisturise and nourish the beard

Shaving the beard altogether is not advised. The beard will protect against the sun which a naked chin will not do
