Former UKIP leader Paul Nuttall named Pogonophobe of the Year

The Beard Liberation Front, the informal network of beard wearers, has named former UKIP leader Paul Nuttall as Pogonophobe of the Year as part of National Beard Week.

Other contenders included Katie Hopkins whose anti-beard sentiments tend to be lost in wider lists of things she dislikes.

During the Election campaign, Nuttall told Robert Peston on his Sunday TV programme that: ‘There’s a myriad of medical research that suggests if you don’t show your face to the sun you will get vitamin D deficiency.”

It is not thought that Nuttall actually produced any evidence to back up his claim, perhaps taking into account that at the time he was covering his face with a beard.

BLF Organiser Keith Flett said, Paul Nuttall briefly grew a beard but in reality as his absurd remarks on face covering underline he is a beard hater. His Pogonophobe of the Year Award is well deserved.
