Jeremy Corbyn given a special award for Hirsute Resilience

The Beard Liberation Front, the informal network of beard wearers which campaigns against beardism, has given Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn a special award for Hirsute Resilience.

Corbyn has won the vote for Parliamentary Beard of the Year a record seven times in 2001, 2007, 2001, 2012 (jointly with John Randall) 2014, 2015, 2016.

The campaigners say that unlike many Labour figures Corbyn has kept his beard despite pogonophobic pressure to shave it off.

Those who did lose their trademark facial hair include Labour figures from right, centre and left- Lord Mandelson, Alistair Darling and Ken Livingstone.

The BLF says that Corbyn’s beard power could be a key issue in next Thursday’s General Election

BLF Organiser Keith Flett said, we salute Jeremy Corbyn’s hirsute resilience. He has kept his beard where others have shaved their facial hair. We think voters appreciate his straightforward approach to facial hair
