Theresa May, Jeremy Corbyn & nudity in politics

In Uncategorized on May 31, 2017 by kmflett

Theresa May, currently the Prime Minister, has made a rather strange comment about Jeremy Corbyn being left naked to negotiate Brexit should be win on June 8th. Of course you’re never naked with a beard although I fear that is not a concept Ms May will grasp.

Even so nudity in politics has some post-1945 back pages.

Nye Bevan in the late 1950s claimed he did not want to go  naked into the conference chamber. He was referring to the need to maintain British nuclear weapons in multilateral disarmament talks. He had previously been a unilateral disarmer.

In the 1960s  Bob Dylan noted that ‘even the President of the United States sometimes must have to stand naked’

In the age of President Trump this is not a thought to dwell on and its worth noting that the nearest Jeremy Corbyn gets to nudity is to display his legs when wearing shorts in warm weather
