Campaigners warn on Government plans for a Beard Brexit Bill

The Beard Liberation Front, the informal network of beard wearers, has warned that the Government may have plans to introduce a Beard Brexit Bill in the Commons after the Easter recess.

It is understood that sections of the Tory right, backed by UKIP, believe that part of taking back control is to return to a more traditional, 1950s, style of appearance, distinct from diverse European hair and beard styles.

The Bill could mean:

  • Government funding for barber’s shops
  • Hipster beards to be taxed under a special Brexit beard tax
  • Handlebar and pencil moustaches to be promoted as official Brexit styles

BLF Organiser Keith Flett said, we’ll be opposing the Brexit Beard Bill and its attempt to roll the clock back on facial hair. We say beards are here to stay, Brexit is not.
