Article 50 triggered: ‘wither’ Ambridge?

Theresa May has triggered Article 50 and with it Britain’s attempt to leave the EU. What will it mean for Ambridge? Will Brian Aldridge at last be able to take back control (from Justin at least) or will the disappearance of EU subsidies see the area subside into bankruptcy?

The removal of subsidies should finally see an end to the efforts of Rooth and David to farm cows and Brian’s lambing. Justin, seeing which way the wind is blowing has already effectively pulled out of farming as it were.

This will leave post-Brexit Ambridge to focus on its actual areas of profitable activity:

Toby’s artisan gin

The shoot

Adam’s strawberries, provided labour can be found

Bird Watching

Bed & Breakfast for tourists

Grundy’s craft cider*

Ambridge Socialist Editor Keith Flett said, Brexit may at last allow the real Ambridge to shine through and all this retro stuff about agriculture can at last be ditched.
