Trump slammed as pogonophobic after he passes over John Bolton for Secretary of State role
The Beard Liberation Front, the informal network of beard wearers, has said that Donald Trump’s interesting relationship with facial hair has taken an unfortunate turn with the Washington Post reporting that he has passed over veteran Republican John Bolton for a Secretary of State position on the grounds he doesn’t like his walrus moustache.
The Washington Post report quotes Trump advisors to the effect that the President-elect doesn’t like either moustaches or beards.
The campaigners say that it is perhaps not entirely surprising that Trump, who has a vast array of prejudices, is a pogonophobe. While the BLF holds no brief for the neo-con views of Bolton it doesn’t think anyone should be selected for a job or otherwise on the basis of their facial hair, except obviously Santa Claus.
BLF organiser Keith Flett said, I suppose now at least we know why Nigel Farage shaved off the moustache he grew in the summer though so far it hasn’t been enough to get Trump to give him a job.
Washington Post report on Donald Trump
“Several of Trump’s associates said they thought that John R. Bolton’s brush-like mustache was one of the factors that handicapped the bombastic former United Nations ambassador in the sweepstakes for secretary of state.
“Donald was not going to like that mustache,” said one associate, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to speak frankly. “I can’t think of anyone that’s really close to Donald that has a beard that he likes.”
