Campaigners react to latest Australian beard ‘research’: if it feels good, grow it

The Beard Liberation Front, the informal network of beard wearers, has said that the latest ‘research’ from an Australian academic is not an improvement on what is now a string of such documentation stretching back to the claim, a couple of years back, that ‘peak beard’ had been reached.

The latest research by Australian psychologist Barnaby Dixson focuses somewhat predictably on masculinity and the alleged appeal of certain kinds of beard to certain kinds of women, as the researchers see it.

The campaigners say that there is no obvious factual basis to the research which is more likely to be  based on personal preferences and prejudices

BLF organiser Keith Flett said, we say ‘if it feels good grow it’. We might also add that none of the Australian research so far seems able to grasp that the male beard may appeal to other men as well as women, though I can’t say this is entirely surprising.
