Labour’s Philip Glanville shaves opponents to win Mayor of Hackney poll
The Beard Liberation Front the informal network of beard wearers has said that it is pleased that the hirsute Labour candidate Philip Glanville has shaved opponents to win the poll for the Mayor of Hackney.
The campaigners say that it is perhaps no surprise that a hirsute candidate won in Hackney, often cited as the beard capital of the UK, but Glanville’s 68.9% of the poll was an emphatic demonstration of electoral pogonophilia.
Glanville beat the Green Party candidate, whose beard was less organic, into a distant second place
BLF Organiser Keith Flett said, Philip Glanville’s victory sends an important electoral message. Beards are popular with voters
