The Beard Liberation Front the informal network of beard wearers has warned that Michael Gove must keep his new beard for at least a month to contend for the Parliamentary Beard of the Year in December.

Betting odds show Gove currently third behind Jeremy Corbyn and Stephen Crabb.

However the shortlist for Parliamentary Beard of the Year will not be announced until 25th November with the result, after a public ballot, on 9th December. Sustainability and Resilience are key to the Parliamentary Beard Award perhaps reflecting why Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has won it a record 6 times.

The BLF says that if Gove’s beard is still in place at the Conservative Party Conference on 2nd October he will be on the Parliamentary Beard of the Year shortlist.

BLF organiser Keith Flett,we have laid down clear criteria for the Gove Beard to appear on the Parliamentary Beard of the Year shortlist
