Campaigners say Gove’s beard must demonstrate resilience & sustainability
The Beard Liberation Front, the informal network of beard wearers, has said that after a special meeting to review former Justice Secretary Michael Gove’s new beard in central London on Wednesday evening it has agreed that the MP does indeed have a beard.
A picture of Gove’s new beard appeared in the London Evening Standard on 17th August and the BLF meeting agreed, narrowly, that the MP is now sporting a chin hipster beard.
However serious doubts were expressed as to whether Gove’s beard is both resilient and sustainable and the matter will be reviewed again in 28th August
Gove missed out on the chance to become Tory leader and faces an uncertain political future on the backbenches.
A beard can begin the process of political re-assessment not just over policies but image as well as Al Gore found when he lost the chance to become US President and instead grew his beard.
The campaigners have discounted suggestions that Gove has grown a Corbyn tribute beard.
BLF Organiser Keith Flett said, at the moment we are giving Michael Gove’s beard conditional support. It is a controversial move and that is why we have agreed to review matters on 28th August
