Campaigners bid farewell to clean shaven Cameron

The Beard Liberation Front the informal network of beard wearers has bid farewell to Prime Minister David Cameron who they say had a tendency to pogonophobia.

As recently as February 2015 Cameron attacked Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn for failing to wear a suit and tie in the Commons in what was understood to be a veiled attack on his trademark beard

Cameron invariably appeared clean shaven so much so that Guardian cartoonist Steve Bell portrayed him as rubbery, his head encased in a condom.

The campaigners say that despite declining follicles Cameron made no attempt to compensate by growing a beard.

BLF Organiser Keith Flett said, David Cameron could have been the first hirsute Tory PM since Lord Salisbury in 1902. Instead he was a clean shaven suit throughout and ultimately paid the price.
