Beard Week ends with renewed call for end to discrimination against hirsute

The Beard Liberation Front, the informal network of beard wearers, has said that National Beard Week has concluded with a renewed call for an end to discrimination against the hirsute.

The campaigners say that while facial hair is a distinctive feature of British life, wearing a beard in public life can still be problematic as Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn and Tory leadership contender Stephen Crabb no doubt reflect from time to time

BLF Organiser Keith Flett said, There hasn’t been a hirsute Prime Minister since Lord Salisbury in 1902 and Corbyn is the first hirsute Labour leader since Keir Hardie over a hundred years ago. There is still work to do
