The Beard Liberation Front, the informal network of beard wearers, has said that the vote of no confidence in Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, called by Labour MPs, has an element of pogonophobia about it.

The campaigners say Corbyn, who is the current Parliamentary Beard of the Year, is the first Labour leader with a beard since Keir Hardie and some MPs, particularly from the clean shaven New Labour wing of the Party, struggle with this.

The Beard Liberation Front is also backing hirsute Tory MP Stephen Crabb in the contest for the next Tory leader

BLF Organiser Keith Flett said, no doubt some MPs have legitimate concerns about Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership, and most have never liked his politics, but there is a suspicion that the age old prejudice of not trusting a man with a beard is never far from the surface in many criticisms.

  1. Crabb is another name for pubic louse. Pubic lice can also inhabit beards and your support risks extending this..

  2. Yes, very good point
