Campaigners say Sir Philip Green’s beard is ‘regrettable’

The Beard Liberation Front, the informal network of beard wearers, has described the beard worn by Sir Philip Green in his appearance before a House of Commons Select Committee on 15th June as ‘regrettable’.

The campaigners have underlined that Sir Philip has no connection to the Beard Liberation Front, and while he is clearly free to dress and appear as he wants, they say that their work of promoting a positive image of the hirsute is not helped by the beard in this case.

BLF Organiser Keith Flett, pogonophobic stereotypes of beards often focus on ideas that the wearers of beards are hiding something or are not what they seem. While we make no comment on whether that might apply to Sir Philip, we do think that the beard is not helping the cause of beard liberation.
