The Beard Liberation Front, the informal network of beard wearers, has said that it has launched a campaign for a Beard Friendly Europe ahead of the Referendum on Europe on 23rd June.

The policy decision was agreed at a BLF summit meeting held in Cardiff on 2nd June

A Beard Friendly Europe will include:

More hirsute politicians in the national and the European Parliament

No cuts

A luxury tax across the EU on shaving products

The appointment of an EU Commissioner to rule on beard related issues in member States

No EU assistance for the shaving industry

The campaigners say that the supposed ‘in’ and ‘out’ campaigns launched around the Referendum appear to be dominated in both cases by clean shaven men in suits with a sub-text of the fight for a comb to tidy the few remaining follicles that most of them have.

The hirsute vote is believed to be concerned about EU policies which might lead to ‘haircuts’ involving beard trimming.

BLF Organiser Keith Flett said, we know it is expecting too much to expect David Cameron to speak out on how a Beard Friendly Europe might be achieved but we are hopeful that Jeremy Corbyn will make a policy speech on the issue

National Beard Week starts on Monday June 27th with the announcement of the hirsute personality of 2016
