David King 1943-2016 Designer of ANL posters & reclaimer of Russian post-1917 images

David King one of the great post-1945 left-wing designers and, for want of a better term, political art historian, died suddenly on May 11th.

He will probably be best remembered for the posters he did for the Anti-Nazi League in the 1970s but he spent much time reclaiming pictures of Russian revolutionaries including Trotsky who had been airbrushed out of history from the 1930s onwards.

The left would not have looked the same without him. Someone who knew how to design popular political images with mass impact.
