The Beard Liberation Front the informal network of beard wearers has said that after George Ferguson lost the Bristol Mayor election to Labour’s Marvin Rees last Saturday a poll has addressed  the important style question of the moment on whether red trousers have had their day.

Ferguson, who held the post of Mayor for his own Bristol First organisation, was arguably the best known red trousers wearer in the country, frequently being pictured wearing a pair.

The poll showed 42% in agreement that red trousers have had their day with only with only 9% supporting them. However 21% did agree that if people preferred to wear red trousers they should regardless of style concerns

The BLF stands not just for beards but also for the right of people to be able to dress and appear as they want. It is also well known for keeping abreast of changing styles and fashions

BLF Organiser Keith Flett said, no doubt there will still be people who wear red trousers and we support their right to do so, but the poll suggests that after George Ferguson’s defeat the bottom has dropped out of the red trousers market.
