After George Ferguson loses in Bristol have red trousers had their day?

The Beard Liberation Front the informal network of beard wearers has said that after George Ferguson lost the Bristol Mayor election to Labour’s Marvin Rees on Saturday the important style question of the day is whether red trousers have had their day.

Ferguson, who held the post of Mayor for his own Bristol First organisation, was arguably the best known red trousers wearer in the country, frequently being pictured wearing a pair.

The BLF stands not just for beards but also for the right of people to be able to dress and appear as they want. However it is also well known for keeping abreast of changing styles and fashions

BLF Organiser Keith Flett said, no doubt there will still be people who wear red trousers and we support their right to do so, but the question must be posed as to whether after Ferguson’s defeat the bottom has dropped out of the red trousers market.

  1. Ken Clarke can be seen at Trent Bridge wearing red trousers. He also sports a snazzy mustard yellow pair from time to time.
