Campaigners slam ‘Corbyn the Musical’ as pogonophobic

The Beard Liberation Front, the informal network of beard wearers, which campaigns against beardism, irrational prejudice against the hirsute, has condemned ‘Corbyn the Musical’ which opens at the 100 seat Waterloo East theatre on 12th April for a short run as pogonophobic.

The musical written by two clean shaven men Bobby Friedman and Rupert Myers, starts with a 1970s bike tour of Germany which Corbyn took with Diane Abbott that did actually take place and moves on from there.

The authors are on record as saying how hard it is, in their view, to make a musical about Corbyn because, they claim, he has few obvious characteristics to satirise.

The campaigners say that there is no question that Corbyn’s beard, which has won him the Parliamentary Beard of the Year Award a record six times, will come in for sarcastic and pogonophobic treatment in the play.

BLF organiser Keith Flett said, the Beard Liberation Front generally takes things in a light hearted way but we suspect that the pogonophobia of Corbyn the Musical wont be something that the hirsute will find funny
