NB: socks only with BLF agreement

The Beard Liberation Front, the informal network of beard wearers, has said that the 2016 Pre-Season for Beards, Shorts and Sandals remains in progress.

The campaigners say that temperatures are rising but unevenly across the UK. The official start of the season is not dictated solely by the weather forecast for Hackney but relies on warmer weather across the country.

The Pre-season means that official Spring beard growth is underway and that shorts and sandals may be worn after midday until 6pm at the discretion of the wearer.

The campaigners say that it is expected that once again the image of organic beard, shorts and sandals will be one of the key male fashions of 2016

The official season is expected to start during April- depending on weather conditions- and traditionally runs until August 31st. During that period the wearing of shorts and sandals- preferably without socks unless special dispensation is given-is permitted for BLF supporters.

The BLF says that ‘beards, shorts and sandals’ is often a stereotype deployed by pogonophobes and so the wearing of shorts and sandals by the hirsute is best done within an agreed and defendable framework.

BLF Organiser Keith Flett said We are reviewing weather forecasts for April with a view to opening the official Beard, Shorts and Sandals season for 2016 on the 9th or 16th April
